NYCC!!!

Holy Comicon!!!

This was my first year attending this event and I had a ball. Held in the Jacob Javits Center, the showroom floor was jam packed with vendors of many shapes and sizes. My must get item was the NYCC  Yoka bear from myplasticheart, grabbed one of those first, then went off into the jungle!

(NYCC Jacob Javits Center, February 7th 2009)

There were tons of really bold individuals in all sorts of costumes. My favorite character had to be "Snake Eyes" from the G.I. Joe series.

A few NYCC "exclusives" from artist Brent Nolasco

2 hours and $300.00 later, I called it a day and headed back to the 914. This experience reminded me of why I decided to start the whole GrownKids movement. There will always be that little wide-eyed kid hiding inside us all.

Kidrobot Fiesta!

Corona and Chocolate Chips!!!

(Kidrobot party/artist signing in New York, February 6th 2009)

These are just a few iphone shots of the event. The line was about 40 people deep when I arrived, then quickly exploded into a good 100 dedicated Kidrobot fans. The free food and drink, mixed with a very chill atmosphere, justified the 1 hour wait to get in. Managed to get a couple of Munnys done up by the likes of; Pon, MAD , Shane Jessup, Sket One, and Huck Gee! Shout out to the kid with the super 80's high, top....Fresh!!! Good times.

Revoltech by Kaiyodo

Who likes Robots?......I do!

I was searching around looking at random websites and I came across these figures called Revoltech. The urge to buy one immediately shot through me like lightning! I was very impressed with the sharp attention to detail found in these figures. They even have Starscream!. I know that I am late on this, but I'm liking these.

These figures are created by a Japanese company called Kiayodo. The first production was in 2006 and has since spawned a wide selection of fully articulated well accessorized adult "toys".
Looking through snap shots, I've noticed that some of Revoltechs figures have less than perfect paint jobs. That seems to be the only flaw that I can find. The customizer in me is itching to throw some neon paint on one of these! On the upside, you could grab one at around $30USD or less!  I'll post some pictures once I get my hands on one.

T-shirt of the day!

New T-shirts from the artist currently known as Squink!

                                              "Super Magical Cheesecake"
                                                              by Squink

Fresh off the presses, UK based artist Squink has offered up this limited edition T-shirt for the masses. The first works that I've seen of Squink's, were of some of his custom Dunnys posted on the Kidrobot forums. I've been a fan ever since and was happy to see a T-shirt design from him for the first time. These 1 color screen printed shirts are on Hanes T's, individually numbered, and accented with 100% recycled tags as well as 95% recycled packaging. Bonus points for considering our environment in creating these shirts. You can help save a tree and look cool at the same time! You can only find this T at Squink's online shop, squink.bigcartel.com. You can also check out his blog at squinknews.blogspot.com, for a more intimate introduction into his world! I think that I might like "Super Magical Cheesecake",  wonder if a slice could give me the ability to shoot blue plasma out of my hands....maybe???

Ye Olde Dunny Series from Kidrobot

I have been a fanatic for Dunnys since I discovered them in the series 3 era. After the disappointment of the french series, as well as series five, I had become slightly jaded with the whole collectible art in Dunny form. Things look a bit brighter for the Ye Olde series, with a few well designed pieces of vinyl.

Ye Olde Must have:

Doktor A (Chase)

        Ratio ?:??

I would also like to give honorable mention to  both Mimic colorways and the Hi Calorie x Julie West design. The demand for the Doktor A chase is insane. I have seen one sell for $200 plus. Good luck getting your hands on this one!
